The venue for the enquiry to take evidence was announced today at the second hearing in the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall.

The venue renovated to host the Stockline enquiry will now become the Fingerprint Enquiry Scotland Venue.

Maryhill Central Community Hall, 304 Maryhill Rd, Glasgow is expected to start hearing evidence February or March 2009 and can bee seen here:

http://www.theherald.co.uk/news/n...sformed_for_Stockline_inquiry.php

It can be seen here on a small map and is on Maryhill Rd before it Merges with Garscube Rd at the Y juction. It is situated near Trossachs St which will be on the right hand side of Maryhill going up the way about half a mile to three quarters of a mile from St Georges Cross

http://www.list.co.uk/place/11104-maryhill-community-central-hall/

There was an outburst from the Lawyer representing two fingerprint experts today.

The Lawyer representing Peter Swann and Martin Leadbetter angrily stated he had no respect for any Scottish Law Officers and did not give a damn about them or Scottish Law (his Words)

He also objected to an expert the enquiry hoped to use and claimed the person in question was not an expert but an academic who teaches fingerprint techniques.

This is rich coming from him since he represents Martin Leadbetter who prepares all the competency tests for fingerprint experts to sit, yet he has never “to my knowledge” sat any such test himself, Neither has Peter Swann I must add, “To my knowledge”

His outburst earned him no brownie points as he implied Iain McKie had  no respect for Miss Ross who was central to this whole case which we all know is very far from the truth.

He outlined the nasty death that Ms Ross suffered which I thought was not appropriate

Iain McKie has consistently said there should be an enquiry into her heinous and detestable death.

Anyone who knows Iain knows he has dedicated his web site to the memory of Marion Ross and can plainly be seen here:

http://www.shirleymckie.com/

Their lawyer obviously has not done his ground work properly.

This representative went on to claim that anything to do with Pat Wertheim was doomed with the kiss of death. This remark was made despite Pat not being there to defend himself.

ADMIN EDIT......The Inquiry refused to circulate his submission because it did not accord with the inquiry rules re confidentiality. It was apparently  potentially defamatory.....ADMIN EDIT.

Who knows what the loose cannon will do next.

We must remember he represents Peter Swann who Crown Office used to allow them not to charge any Incompetents within SCRO despite him identifying a different thumb print from them.

I think he identified a left thumb while they identified a right one.

And this is the expert claiming had the best Image taken from the “Daily Mail”

For more outbursts from loose cannons I would suggest you visit the enquiry at the next sitting which might be 11th Dec at the same Royal Concert Hall.

More details of next sitting will be broadcast on the enquiry site.

It also transpired from today's hearing that the original fingerprints are proving elusive and hard to come by.

This is not surprising since the last I heard about them was they were sent to the (Labour) Government at Holyrood for them to carry out their own tests.

Perhaps I am wrong here but I don't think they have been seen since and if they do not turn up they will allow the SCRO to claim they cannot comment unless they can view the original prints they “Wrongly Identified”

What a let off for them that would be.

The evidence will all be given under “Oath” Something Iain has been calling for (And was missing from the last enquiry) so Iain was delighted with this aspect.

Any statements must also be signed.

Best Wishes to Iain Shirley and family.

Thoughts & Sympathies to the Ross Family.

I hope this allows the McKie's to move on and finds the shocking truth which has eluded the Scottish Public for the past decade.

The last thought on this issue must go to Fiona McBride SCRO who still claims she did no wrong despite being the worker who claimed she signed other experts Initials because she knew they had looked at the print before her.

This statement makes a whole mockery of fingerprints as evidence, The way I see it experts should sign their own Initials and anyone who signs another expert's Initials  is committing Fraud and Perjury which is a serious matter I hope the enquiry addresses.

From the Inquiry

As Big Wullie describes the Fingerprint Inquiry finally caught fire yesterday (12 November 2008) with a  lively session in Glasgow Concert Hall on potential issues to be examined and witnesses to be interviewed.

Lawyer David Russell, who represents Peter Swann and witness Martin Leadbetter was in fine form objecting to what he saw as restrictions in  the Inquiry’s scope, particularly as it affected some decisions of the previous Lord Advocate Colin Boyd. I must admit to some sympathy with him in this and hope that the Inquiry will be wide ranging also examining  the political and constitutional consequences of the identification of ‘Y7’ and the other prints in the case.

I can less understand his objections to the proposed appointment of Professor Christophe Champod as expert advisor to the Inquiry however because Mr. Russell does not consider him expert enough in fingerprint analysis.  As can easily be determined  the Professor is in fact eminently qualified in this area and as the Inquiry chairman Sir Anthony Campbell explained  his remit would not be to make a finding on the identity of any given fingerprint  but to carry out statistical and other analysis.

http://shirleymckie.com/ChristopheChampod.htm

Given that I am likely to be a witness at the Inquiry, while I might raise some matters I feel are important,  I do not intend to take any further  issue with Mr. Russell or anyone else at this stage. Suffice to say I look forward to facing him after all these years and meeting some of his charges head on. As a witness himself I hope Mr Russell  shares my anticipation.

From my perspective two major decision were made.

·                     All witnesses will be on oath.

·                     A set of prints, which I assume will be prepared from the original productions, is being prepared for ALL experts to examine and comment on.

At last there will be a level playing field for all experts to operate from. There can be no more complaints of damaged or poor quality images. It truly is make your mind up time.

The Inquiry chairman stated that he  intended to start hearing witness evidence towards the end of February next year  and the  Inquiry venue will be Maryhill Community Centre, Glasgow  which recently held the ‘Stockline  Inquiry’ .

Another procedural hearing might be held in December and full details of yesterday’s hearing will be posted in the Inquiry website next week.

Mr McKie

I look forward to the Enquiry and also any investigation that goes with it.

Marion Ross deserves justice and Shirley deserves vindication.

My thought and prayers are with you all.

I sincerely hope that the set of prints are from the original productions in the case.

I think the various witnesses having to take the oath is an excellent move, and not before time.

Let's hope that 'Y7' will once and for all, vindicate Shirley and lead eventually to the person who was responsible for Marion Ross's terrible death finally being brought to book for it.

Today saw the publication of the transcript from the second Inquiry hearing on 21 November and it makes interesting reading.

http://www.thefingerprintinquiryscotland.org.uk/inquiry/54.45.html

I will continue my policy of not commenting critically about any witnesses outbursts prior to the evidence hearings next year but it appears as if some are still embarked on a ‘pulling the wool over everyone’s eyes’ exercise. I am confident that the high quality of the Inquiry team and the hearing of all evidence under oath will nullify such attempts.

I have read the report in full, this afternoon.

Mr. Russell certainly does not pull any punches when representing his clients, even when acting pro bono.  I also thought it was pleasing to see that your and Shirley’s representative pointed out the dedication on your website to the late Marion Ross.   I thought Mr. Russell’s comments quite cruel in that regard.

Not much heard from Strathclyde Police of course, other than they had nothing further to say.

It will be interesting to see if Prof. Champod is chosen as a participating expert.     I certainly look forward to the Inquiry next year.

The Fingerprint Inquiry Chairman Sir Anthony Campbell has decided to appoint Professor Christophe Champod as an expert to the Inquiry.

http://www.thefingerprintinquiryscotland.org.uk/inquiry/39.html

In addition he has also decided that,

Quote:
'in order to ensure balance, the Inquiry will proceed with a modified approach, which is to obtain expert assistance from more than one source.'

Dr Stephen Bleay of the Home Office will carry out 'various technical tasks'.

http://scienceandresearch.homeoff...06_FPUpdate_April2006?view=Binary

http://scienceandresearch.homeoff...rprint_and_Footw1.pdf?view=Binary

In a further effort to ensure balance Sir Anthony has also ruled.

Quote:
'Using the existing reports and also witness statements, Professor Champod will be asked to assist the Inquiry team to identify the specific areas in dispute and to facilitate focused questioning on disputed details at the hearings of the Inquiry. ........... Again in the interests of balance, and recognising that Professor Champod does not claim to be a fingerprint practitioner, I have decided that this review ought to be done by more than one person. ......... others, who are fingerprint examiners or practitioners, will also be instructed. That will allow Counsel to have the benefit of a range of views. I am not yet in a position to indicate who the other individual or individuals will be. The Inquiry team are pursuing some leads, but I would welcome suggestions from core participants. If there is not consensus, I will decide upon how many and who should be instructed.

This broadening of the expertise available to the Inquiry is I believe to be welcomed and brings hope that the Inquiry will finally settle matters and ascertain the truth in an atmosphere of 'truth and reconciliation.'

Oral hearings are due to start in May for 8 weeks with extra hearing dates available in August and September.

Mr McKie I truly hope that this enquiry brings the atmosphere of Truth and Reconcilliation to all involved.

My thoughts and prayers are with you, Shirley and your family. And of course also with the family of Marion Ross.
