Justice for Scots? Not from this old house
http://www.youtube.com/v/VVgNNAf0qY0
An irreverent video mocking the Scottish Supreme Courts, Parliament
Square, Edinburgh and the Scottish legal establishment generally and the
resistance and hostility of lawyers, solicitors, advocates, judges and the
rest to reform of their powers which amount to a royalist, fascist legal
dictatorship in Scotland.
The video says -
The Scots should democratically ELECT the Scottish judiciary.
Those who interpret the law should be as accountable to the people as
those who make the law.
END the tradition of a Scottish royalist, fascist legal dictatorship! This
ole house must fall!
The video ends recalling the time when Scottish Socialist Party co-founder
Alan McCombes was jailed for contempt of court - not the first nor the
last socialist to be so abused by the legal system no doubt.
The video says - Contempt is OK!
Note the video does not support appointment of judges by politicians or by
a board which itself is appointed by politicians.
Appointment fosters a culture of patronage. Elections foster a culture of
openness and accountability. This is also why it is better to elect a
president of a republic than have the president appointed by the
government or parliament.
The video is set to the song 'This Ole House' as sung by Shakin Stevens.
