A new survey by London-based watchdog Privacy International (PI) has labelled the UK as | Quote: | | '"an endemic surveillance society" alongside Russia, the US, Singapore and China.' |
This report is required reading for all those ID card enthusiasts and those who believe we have an open and accountable society.
| Quote: | | "For the first time, Scotland has been given its own ranking score and performed significantly better than England and Wales," observed the report. |
While this is welcome news things have still a long way to go as last year’s revelations about lack of disclosure by the Crown Office testify.

Iain
Interesting article, Also disturbing to some extent.
A classic example of the failure of disclosure is in my own case, for example:
Scottish Criminal Cases Review Commission (SCCRC) Give me the Jurors names and address's and Crown refuse to give me access to Crown Precognitions of witnesses that gave evidence at my trial and who's evidence is public knowledge.
Crown also still refuse to hand over a second ID Parade report which they sent to SCCRC... Saying now, they do not know what they sent to SCCRC?
The disclosure cases of Holland and Sinclair (Privy Council 2005) mean crown have a duty to reveal all evidence to allow the defence equality of arms, yet diabolically Crown still refuse to do so.
Is Crown Office more powerful than our Privy Council???? |
