http://news.sky.com/skynews/Home/...5_Pair_Guilty_Over_Toddlers_Death
"The child - known as Baby P - had a broken back, nine fractured ribs, fingernails and a toenail missing, a severe mouth injury, a ripped ear and extensive bruising on his body.
He also had sores and puncture wounds on his head.
The toddler was found dead in his home in north London on August 3 last year.
His 27-year-old mother pleaded guilty on a previous occasion to causing or allowing the death of her son.
Today, her 32-year-old boyfriend, who has not been named, was found guilty of the same charge at the Old Bailey in London.
He was cleared of murder.
Another man, Jason Owen, who lodged with the family, was also convicted of causing or allowing the death of Baby P.
More follows..."
This child was seen by a plethora of professional people before his death. He was on the At Risk Register - yet this little soul had to suffer and finally die a terrible and painful death.
This poor little soul had nobody fighting his corner.
I want to know what kind of life these individuals will have in Prison.
This kind of story disgusts and sickens me beyond words. Yet we hear it all too frequently.

What a horrible story this is. This makes me so angry that there was no one there to protect that child. This was all so damn needless.
The abuse of Baby P took place while he was on the child protection register in the London borough of Haringey - the same local authority that was found to have failed seriously in its duty of care to Victoria Climbié, who died eight years ago.
Also this child was taken to hospital with injuries three times.
This poor little thing was so badly let down by everyone who could have stopped this and helped.
He was examined by a consultant paediatrician, Dr Sabah al-Zayyat, who noted that Baby P appeared "cranky" and "miserable" but did not find any indication that he had fractured ribs or a broken back.
However, two medical experts told the court they believed those injuries would have been evident.
Rest in peace now little one. Iam sure these two will be made "welcome" in prison _________________ Great Spirit, grant that I may not criticize my neighbor until I have walked a mile in his moccasins." - Old Native American Indian Prayer that my dad taught me. |

What sicken me once again, with cases like this is that we were told after Victoria Climbié that "lessons had been learned" - right.
I took that with a pinch of salt. But, we should not be hearing of cases like this after the event.
It is disgusting.
Hopefully, they will experience their own nightmare whilst in prison. _________________ “Send not to know for whom the bell tolls – it tolls for thee.” John Donne. |

60 times they had the chance to save this child.
A great pity he was not a dog or a horse, chances are he would have been saved.
The social work departments are all overworked, underfunded, and have no foster placements available, we know this, but excuses in this case from all these agencies - none.
I hope they can sleep. _________________ We are the parents in Scotland denied justice for our children who had illegal post mortem's or had organs removed illegally at post mortem. |

They havent learned one thing since the terrible case of Maria Caldwell, which happened when I was a child. I remember it vividly.
Neighbours and family have a responsibility of reporting this information to police and social services but people do not want to get involved.
When a child is in danger like this EVERYONE should get involved.
I found this interesting article.

Yes and what appals me, is the length of sentence these people get. This latest baby also in the hands of Haringay Council – no lessons learned after the murder of little Victoria, obviously!
This is an excellent article………….

I found no words that can express my feeling about this.
Why is it that grown up human closes their eyes and look in another way???
In a case where I made research, a little girl was badly beaten both mentally and physically by her mother. I found one of the former neigh boroughs and made an interview with her.
What she told me made me shocked; she knew that the little child was badly beaten; she could namely hear everything through the thin wall. She had heard every scream, every cry every plea that the little girl made. She told me about one terrible occasion that forever had stayed at her mind where the little girl pushed the door open with a bang and run out in the white cold snow, covered with bruising and blood on her tiny body. The white snow was covered with blood as the little girl was caught and dragged inside the house by her mother. The woman told me that the beating did not stop there she could hear the mother continuing to beat her daughter. She cried for the little girl thousand times after hearing what happened next door.
The mother did not even cover the blood traces on the white snow, so the other neigh boroughs must have seen what happened. No one did anything to save the little girl!
The woman told me that she was so afraid herself for what the mother could do to her if she would report this to the police, she was too afraid to help the little girl.
The little girl managed to stay alive, and she escaped after a murder attempt when her mother grabbed a knife and was to attack the daughter. That was the first time that the girl defended herself and managed to bend away the hand in which the mother held the knife.
Years after, the young woman was notified that her mother was at a hospital and that she soon would die. The mother died and the young woman had to take care of every thing herself.
After the funeral all the mothers’ colleagues approached the young woman. They gave her hugs and told her with tears in their eyes that they knew about the abuse, both the mental and the physical beating, they did not believe that the little girl would survive, they did not think that the girl would live to be a grown up woman of her own and not that she would grew up to be a mother and have a good life.
So the young woman had to continue to live with the memories of her terrible childhood and also with the new knowledge that so many grown up people both men and women knew but did nothing!
To know and keep silence is to be a part of what’s happening!
In a lot of cases children end up at a child care institution and should be safe and be cared for but I have read about so many cases where children are abused and neglected by those who should care and treat them with love and support!!!!
At one place the children was even sexually abused, another place bodies from little children was found burried in the ground, bodies from little children.
The Angels are crying!

There are probably cases happening as we speak, all over the country.
But, this is the same council who said lessons had been learned in the Victoria Climbié case. We will all remember that case and the different employees from Haringay Council who spoke out after the trial.
There are those who will say Social Workers have a difficult job in dealing with parents etc. That may well be the case, but that is what they are paid for, it is what they know when they first become Social Workers. It forms part of their training. The right of the child must come first.
I am not denying they have a difficult job. Nevertheless, Social Workers did not only see this child and his mother, they were seen both in hospital and at the home, by others. The GP also saw this child. This child was seen twice a week! There were also police errors in this case.
There is a catalogue of events here that should have told someone this little boy needed to be removed from that house. The mother was said to be very plausible – that is no excuse. She may well have been plausible, but we are dealing with people who were experts [or should have been] in their own individual areas of social and health care. People who should have been trained in seeing through the lies and subterfuge, particularly in light of what they say they have learned as a result of past cases.
It seems to me that each time we hear of such cases. The depravity and cruelty is getting worse and more prolonged.
It is my intention to write today to the Prime Minister and others. I really think it is time that we spoke out about the handling of these cases, and the terrible deaths each of the children have suffered.
I am sick of hearing Executives from the Councils concerned that ‘lessons will be learned’. If they cannot do the job of protecting these children, then they are doing the wrong job.
Some cases from the past.
Maria Caldwell, Jasmin Beckford, Kimberly Carlisle, Lauren Wright, Ainsley le bont, as well as the ones we have already mentioned.
All of the parties concerned will have a terrible time in Prison. I strongly suspect this child's mother will have the worst time of all. Poetic justice is what I call it.
They have not been named 'for legal reasons', but that will not deter prison inmates from knowing who they are, I hope.
It will be interesting to see what their sentences are on December 15th.
A nationwide review of Child Protection Services is now under way - yet again. _________________ “Send not to know for whom the bell tolls – it tolls for thee.” John Donne. |

At this moment I am listening to an idiot of a man on BBC trying to tell us that we should not see this case as a second case from the council that also allowed the death of Victoria Climbie', we should see this as a case that could have happened anywhere because the mother was so plausible.
This child removed from the care of his mother due to suspected child abuse was later returned to her care.
He was given into the care of her friend, so somewhere it seems someone did love this child and had to give him back.
The day before this child died the police told the mother no action would be taken over other charges of child abuse.
I make no excuses for the actions of the social workers or any other of the services in this case. I should have defined my views and explained that I believe that although councils are cash strapped we all have a responsibility to ensure that these services are not under funded, under staffed or lack training.
Unfortunately, people that work long hard hours, some are the right people, with no ability to remove children because they have a budget they must work too, run this service all over the country. We have a sever shortage of foster carers. Some work as social workers because that is a well-paid job and they have no real interest in children. Some actually see social work as a prestigious job; again, they have no real interest in children or their welfare.
We also have some people within the foster care system who do this job because it is well paid, unfortunately in this current financial climate more of these people will apply just to be employed.
On the other side of the argument, some children, are removed, for very little reason and adopted, before the parent has time to learn how to save their children from the system. It is not so long ago that social workers were given targets on how many children should be adopted and as babies are the most likely candidates for adoption babies have been removed all over the country.
In many cases children are adopted, when the father would happily take the child, social workers do not see fathers as an option for children.
It is my firmly held belief that children from less salubrious areas get less care, from social work, from the NHS, from police and every other system we have in place to protect them, they just do not matter.
My view, social work and every other service involved in the care of children in general needs a complete overhaul. Not the words only review that will now take place. Words are cheap when a child has been tortured in the way this child has. _________________ We are the parents in Scotland denied justice for our children who had illegal post mortem's or had organs removed illegally at post mortem. |

Very well said Lydia.
I recall in 1991 or thereabouts, there was the question of the children in the Orkneys who were supposed to have suffered child abuse. Subsequently, this turned out not to be the case I believe.
So it is also a fact that Social Workers get it wrong both ways.
I think something must be done about this. I know we are all agreed, and we have heard the same arguments time and time again.
Enough is enough. Someone must protect these children.
