‘OUR WORLD – OUR RIGHTS’

A free public conference organised by Amnesty International
to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Universal Declaration
of Human Rights and discuss what it means for people in
Scotland and around the world. Register now !



When: Saturday 6th December 2008 from 10am to 4pm

Where: Renfield St Stephen's Church Centre, 260 Bath Street, Glasgow G2


Speakers include:        
-        Professor Alan Miller, Chair of the Scottish Commission for Human Rights
-        Kate Allen, Director of Amnesty International UK
-        John Watson, Programme Director of Amnesty International Scotland
-        David Pratt, International Editor, Sunday Herald
-         Elaine Webster, Strathclyde University


Workshops sessions include:
-        Children’s rights, presented by Barnardo’s
-        Worker’s rights, presented by the Scottish TUC
-        War on Terror, presented by Niall McCluskey, Advocate
-        LGBT rights, presented by Equality Network and LGBT Youth Scotland
-        Climate change and poverty, presented by Oxfam
-        Older people’s rights, presented by Help the Aged
-        Women’s rights, presented by Scottish Women’s Aid
-        Refugees and Asylum Seekers, presented by the Scottish Refugee Council
-        Rights to Health, Housing and Happiness, presented by Amnesty International

Lunch will be provided by Tchai-Ovna cafe - www.tchaiovna.com

In the evening there will be a special fundraising comedy evening organised by Glasgow University Amnesty Society. Doors open 7.30pm, hilarity commences 8pm. Queen Margaret Union, 22 University Gdns (non-students very welcome) - www.guamnesty.org.uk

Looks like an event some crying "Micarriages" should be attending but I am afraid I need to give it a miss due to other commitments that day.
