Investigative journalism no more?On the face of it BBC Scotland's decision to axe Gary Robertson, one of the more ‘enquiring presenters, from its 'Good Morning Scotland' radio slot has little to do with justice.
However if you tie this decision in with the one to axe 'Newsnight Scotland' and substitute it, with what to date is a somewhat blander 'Scotland 2014', then you detect a move away from investigative reporting. Such a move will not assist miscarriage of justice victims who often rely on the media to carry their story.
It was ‘Newsnight Scotland’s repeated coverage of Shirley’s campaign which motivated the government to come out of hiding and finally take action.
Then again we used to have regular documentaries from 'Frontline Scotland' highlighting injustice and official malfeasance but even these are few and far between.
Can I suggest that the government and organisations like the Crown Office will be only too pleased to see the back of Mr Robertson and of course Gordon Brewer the late night political inquisitor.
