Scottish Government Visit Blackhill Today

The Scottish Government is visiting Blackhill today.

http://www.scotland.gov.uk/Topics/a-national-conversation/nctimeline

They will be at Molendinar Learning Centre, Royston Rd, Directly opposite Arthur Thomson's old pub the Provanmill Inn and at the other side the Ranza on the site of the old Shields Bar, Stuck in the middle of two of Glasgows most famous Pubs.

It is anticipated that Kenny MacAskill will be visiting as part of the  National Conversation Event

http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?hl=...9zjdSQ&cbp=12,218.82,,0,10.26

The centre is to the right, and in front is what is left of Thomsons Pub.

The Ranza can be seen here to the right of the centre:

Both pubs have seen many battles between rivals in Blackhill

Another view of The Provanmill Inn or what is left of it:

Staying on Provanmill Rd Arthur Thomsons house and vast wealth for his days can be viewed here, just a stones throw away from where the Scottish Government Cabinet Ministers are meeting ( Who would ever have thought it eh ?)

Who says Crime Doesn,t pay ?

Anyone wanting a chance to meet the Government Ministers or to ask them questions should come along here
Big Wullie

I attended todays Cabinet Meeting in Blackhill and found each and every one of the Cabinet Ministers that I spoke to overwhelmingly pleasant.

My wife and I spoke with many of the ministers Including Kenny MacAskill and cannot say a bad word about them from our meeting.

I found each and every one of them very courteous and willing to listen to our complaints.

I really cannot see where some people are coming from when they shout from the high heavens about their cases but do not go out and meet these people who can make changes to our Justice System.

Writing to them is not enough Get out there and meet these people and put your reasoned and coherent complaints to them, If they do not know of your complaints in person then they cannot deal with it on your behalf.

What I have found in the past is that they will have secretaries that deal with all issues for them and pass them on to people in other departments without a second glance.

Confront them in person so they can understand your issues.

Today I saw another side to our Cabinet Ministers where they were all sitting around drinking tea and chatting away like old pals with anyone with complaints.

What a great opportunity people have missed today.
Iain McKie

Well done Wullie,

You and others like you are showing that the determination to follow through your frustrations and rightful anger with determined and reasoned action is by far and away the best way forward for those seeking justice.

All governments and large organisations like the police and crown office love the obsessives who hit out at everyone and everything and are easily marginalised and discredited.

What really upsets them is the determined campaigner like yourself who despite 25 years of knockbacks and disappointment has managed this year alone to make those in authority listen to him and has persuaded the SCCRC to carry out a further review of his case.

I do however feel that until we have an effective mentoring organisation for those who have suffered injustice to help them with campaigning, gathering political support and handling the media then successes like your own will continue to be hard fought and will depend on exceptional personal tenacity and the unswerving support from family and friends.

Best wishes,

Iain

Mr Beck

That is a bit of a turn around from what you've been saying before.

What makes you think any of those you met today will resolve what issues you put to them in person when usually politicians say one thing to your face and then go back to avoiding the issues when safely back in their office ?

Did you not read above:

Please show me where I said those I met today would resolve any of my issues or any issues I put to them.

I found them very charming and pleasant but most of all, willing to listen, Not just to me and my wife but nearly every minister was sat about speaking to many people, but the most important aspect of today's exercise, was they were listening.

By the way would I be right in saying I detect a hint of hostility from your post and also feel you are a regular poster who has changed their name just for this post.
Big Wullie

Iain

Thanks ever so much for your best wishes.

I only wish more seeking Justice had been there today to get more questions asked of the Justice Minister like:

What actions if any are proposed to speed up the appeal process in light of Megrahi, where quite literally he ran out of time.

The astronomical amount of time taken to get appeals heard is ridiculous.

In this respect at least one Advocate is attempting to hold the courts responsible for the amount of time taken to hear appeals see:

http://www.scotcourts.gov.uk/opinions/2009HCJAC52.html

Chris Shead is attempting to make the courts proceed more expeditiously at appeals, "Well Done Chris"

I agree on the following:

Quote:

Any Ideas anyone ?

Anyone think of a way forward to bring this type of organisation to fruition ?
jduggan

Mr Beck

Hostility (like beauty) is often in the eye of the beholder, rather than with those who pose legitimate questions.Yes I do admit to being a regular reader of this forum, but I have no other registration here.

What I dont really get is any substantial hope of change from the SNP or any other political party for that matter. Lets face it.Kenny MacAskill stood up last week and said he supports the conviction of Mr Megrahi for killiong 270 people but decided to let him go hope out of compassion and hope of an oil exploration deal.MacAskill in his compassion still views Megrahi as a killer so how does MacAskill view you considering (according to your blog) you were found guilty of a crime you say you did not commit then sent to prison and now fight to have "justice" for yourself ?

I am only pointing out that politicians say one thing to your face can appear as charming as the day is long then go off and do nothing.I suspect there are plenty here who know all about that including Mr Mckie himself.I do support you all but what good is all this when we all know that nothing will ever change in Scotland because it never does.

Absolutely nothing will ever change with all the negative vibes and negative attitudes like above and below

Quote:

.

Please bring forward ways to improve, rather than sit back and say well nothing will ever change so what is the point, This only breeds contempt.

What better way to suggest change than meeting the Ministers responsible for such changes, and suggesting ways forward for the better of Scotland and our Judicial System.

So lets just say you have no faith in any political party at-all as you claim above, What other hope would you have of ever getting any changes or justice ?

Nothing will ever change unless we make changes and to make changes people must listen to what we are saying.

I heard Mr Salmond suggesting to someone today, to speak to him later as he might be able to suggest a way forward for her though she might have heard this countless times before and been to most places looking for help, but the main thing I saw was he was willing to listen to this woman who I think took him up on his offer of a chat.

Any MSP no matter what party must know of your case before they can act, and the Majority of SNP MSP's that I have spoken to have all been very supportive and have suggested ways forward to progress issues.

Of course as you point out many MSP's will promise you the world then do nothing but I really cannot agree that this is my experinces with SNP MSP's
jduggan

Got it in one Mr Beck

I don't believe anything as far as justice goes will change in Scotland no matter which politician says what.As for Mr Salmond and his party, I think he and the rest of them are a well practised liars and opportunists. This "National conversation" is nothing but a highly deceptive talking shop but good luck to those who think otherwise.
Big Wullie

What is wrong, is no one reading your other posts and rants about SNP on the other topics ?

I really am not intereted in your negativity, and if we all thought like you, nothing would ever get changed.

What exactly is your aims and aspirations for our Justice System ?

What do you feel would make it any better ?

And how would you hope to acheive such changes if you trust no MSP's at-all.

I think this forum is well versed on your views about SNP, do you not think it is time to change the record instead of keeping changing your name ?
Big Wullie

No Wonder people get angry and frustrated with the Justice System.
This explains a lot of frustration and anger from a certain individual.

Well done Wullie, once again you have shown that you are willing to get out there and meet with the people who can make changes.

Keep doing it the way you are doing it and someone will take notice.

Well done again. I am very proud of you and Lou for keeping up this fight. It will not only help your case but it will help others too, which is what you always wanted to do.

What an awful thing to happen to this family.

No wonder people get so angry with the justice system when someone can have their home repossessed and belongings tossed into the street.

I hope something can be done to help this family.

Many fathers are getting such a raw deal and it really isnt fair.

A friend of our family is also going through a battle too.

Just as http://williambeck.blogspot.com/2008/05/support-from-msp.html must explain some of your own frustration being hauled from your home by the Police and after all your protests I'm sure Kenny was well aware of it in advance.

I'm no expert on criminal stuff as I've never been convicted and sent to prison before but surely by now Kenny should meet you about your case and give you what you want ? Why  does he avoid you when he can just go in and meet someone who was convicted of blowing 300 people out of the sky ?

My point is Kenny does nothing for people in your situations or any situation unless there is something at the end of it for his Government.YOu admitted you met Kenny MacAskill and discussed your case. So why are you still here writing about it and making campaigns after all this time while Megrahi goes free a few days after Kenny meets him ? Surely even through all your hostility to anyone who might debate you you can see a double face to that.

I respect your position but it is fatally flawed regarding the SNP.They are not here to give anyone justice. They are here to line their own pockets.I will keep reading your forum and if you are all still talking about these things 6 months or a year on then we will all know the SNP are doing nothing for justice.

Ha Ha Ha

What A Joke you lot are.

Kenny MacAskill and all the other SNP MSP's I have met couldn't be any more pleasant when I have met with them, Unlike some Labour ones I have met.

As I said people with issues should take the issues to them instead of hiding behind their doors.
Scots Against Injustice

I don't agree with what you say ...

Speaking of name changes you have plenty yourself. You are still here writing about it and nothing has changed under the SNP.Lashing out at everyone just because someone you dont know points that out isnt going to help and you will still be here writing about it in 6 months a year or even 5 years on.You know it so does everyone else.
