Votes for prisoners: The zombie case that won't die

The European Court of Human Rights has ruled - yet again - that the UK has again breached prisoners' rights by failing to give them the vote. It's another in a long line of defeats for ministers stretching back over 10 years.

I believe Prisoners should be allowed to vote especially in important things like the Referendum.

What is the bets Scotland will ignore this ruling ?

Albania has better rights than Scotland because they are allowed to vote.

No getting away from it Mr MacAskill should abide by the decisions of the ECHR:

UK prisoners denied the vote should not be paid compensation, ECHR rules
However, European court of human rights upholds its earlier ruling that a blanket ban on UK prisoners voting is unlawful

Even though most of the applicants were convicted of heinous crimes, perhaps they should have been awarded damages which in effect would have forced the UK governments to act. I feel they would be more than willing to listen if it is going to cost millions in damages.

I think the problem for them is that there are far too many prisoners they would need to compensate David and not just the ten that went to ECHR.

They would need to compensate every single prisoner not only in Scotland but the whole UK.

I also found it strange this story could not be found on BBC Scotland but viewers had to click on BBC UK to read about these 10 Scottish cases.
