The MURDER WEAPON -- this article will give you an idea of the lengths the South Africa Police Service was willing to go to frame an innocent man:

The Murder Weapon.

Great link Pat and yes it does show the lengths prosecutors will go to gain a conviction.
Different Country from ours but it would seem the same Fabrication of evidence is "Worldwide"
Once they have it in their mind you are guilty they will do everything in their power to convict you.
The following extract brings back bad memories for me:
Under cross-examination, however, Maritz was forced to concede — with a petulant, grudging reluctance — that the hammer in the picture was not, in fact, the hammer that had belonged to Van der Vyver.

He couldn’t risk using that one in these tests, you see, because, when he used it the first time to test the potential of the hammer to cause this wound, the bottle-opener bent and almost broke. How do we know this? Because the defence obtained a video of Maritz’s tests and in it one can see the bending of the hammer quite plainly and one can hear the disappointed “ooohh” of Maritz and his colleagues.

As an exhibition of forensic science, the state’s case about the hammer verged on the farcical: there was no DNA linking it to the crime; the physical similarities between the weapon and wounds was dubious and unproved; and police experts had failed to tell the court that the bottle-opener, which they said could smash through a human skulls, had a tendency to bend. Not exactly an episode of CSI: Cape Town.

The mere mention of a "Hammer"
When i was Wrongly Convicted in 1982 for robbing two Postmen, I was originally charged with an Axe or similar instrument.
Once in prison and presented with my Petition it Read:
You did strike them with "Hammers"
This was also despite the Postmen and others saying they were hit with an Axe.
The reason for the change of charge was simply: The Police never found an "Axe" in my house when i was arrested on another charge.

My defence team never really challenged this at trial suggesting Collusion between them and Crown.

They never called Crucial forensic evidence saying there was no Forensic from my hair samples or blood.

So many aspects similar to the South Africa case it is shocking.

One can attempt to bend, break and beat the truth, but all those attempts will have a fundamental flaw at the core.

Dear Friends and Supporters,

This is almost an exact copy of my post on Clpex. Please forgive me for the "shortcut" but I believe it is equally appropriate here.

I would like to use this opportunity and forum to thank, not only those who were directly involved with our case, but also those from the international community - and there are many of you - who gave their unequivocal support to Fred.

While we are still in the process of getting our lives on an even keel after the two and a half year ordeal and my mind is not yet clear enough to express my real gratitude in the most appropriate way, I also realize that any further delay may be interpreted as being unappreciative and that is not the case.

Our most sincere appreciation goes firstly to the following experts who did tremendous work in investigating the alleged forensic evidence – of which not only nothing survived the trial, but rather indicated fabrication, manipulation, or deliberate misleading of the court. Not all of them testified, but that does not take anything away from the sterling work each and everyone did.

Local Experts:

(fp = fingerprint; fw = Footwear, bal = Ballistics; ps = Psychology; (it) = Information Technology)

Nico Kotze (fp), Dr David Klatzow (fp, fw, bal), Mike Grace (fp), Daan Bekker (fp, fw), Wollie Wolmarans (bal), Cobus Steyl (bal), Prof Zelda Knight (ps), Prof Gert Saayman (bal); Hendrik Beukes (it).

International experts:

Pat Wertheim (fp); Mike Grimm (fw, bal); Arie Zeelenberg (fp); Paul Ryder (fw) from the Forensic Science Srervices, UK;  Bill Bodziak (fw).

If anybody has been omitted, it’s because of the “unclear mind”, my apologies and I will set the record straight the moment it is brought to my attention.

As an example of loyal support by total strangers from abroad I would like to specially mention the names of Iain McKie, Alan McNamara, Wullie Beck, Truthseeker and each and every one who supported us in any way.

Thank you all and also to everybody unknown to us who prayed for this cause.

Fred is back at work, positive and enthusiastic like the child and young man I always new. We are proud of him.

I believe that charges of “Obstructing the ends of Justice” have been laid against Dir Trollip, investigating officer  and the state prosecutor, Advocate Carine Theunissen by somebody not directly involved in our case.

All indications from our legal team are that we will proceed with a civil claim against the police for unlawful arrest or malicious prosecution.

I am leaving the publication of the forensic aspects of our case to our experts to deal with. Thank you for your crusade in this regard as well.

We are desparately trying to get the 76 page verdict translated professionally and it may unfortunately take a while still.

Thank you everybody including Iain for this forum.

Interesting Turn of Events.

Is it possible events like the following will ever become part of our complaints against Justiciary and the likes.

As Fred’s case highlights injustice is international and not merely the product of any one country’s political and legal structure.

Many of the contributors and readers of this forum will understand the suffering of Louis and his family over the past two years.

With the system arraigned against them it would have been all too easy to go under but they fought on displaying the integrity, courage and dignity so sadly lacking in their persecutors.

As Louis highlights, experts and ordinary people from across the world expressed their support for Fred, not for money or other reward, but because they believed that one preventable injustice was one too many.

One of the wonderful things that has happened over the past decade of fighting for my daughter has been meeting people like Pat Wertheim, Arie Zeelenberg, David Grieve, Ed German, Allan Bayle, Gary Dempster and many other experts and non-experts who, often in the face of opposition from their contemporaries, stood up to be counted.

That I can now add Louis and his family to that list is a matter of great satisfaction.

While I look forward to updates on the legal progress above all I hope that Fred, Louis and all their family have a peaceful Christmas and a   New Year of hope, health and happiness.

Dr Chris Landman of the State President’s Commission for the Rights of Cultural, Religious and Linguistic Communities (CRL Commission) has spoken out on national news media and said that the government needs to review this case and investigate the conduct of the State investigators.

Persecution of the Justice Seekers???

http://www.capeargus.co.za/?fSect...icleId=vn20071221035542929C387614

Police have raided the home of Neil van Heerden, one of the private investigators who filed complaints against the police officers involved in framing Fred van der Vyver for the murder of Inge Lotz, in which fingerprints, footwear impressions, and wound evidence was fabricated or misrepresented. The police seized all of van Heerden's documents and files.

Could it be that the cover up of police misdeeds has begun? Could it be that those who would seek justice will find themselves the target of more police misdeeds?

Truthseeker, can you offer any insight into this outrage?

Too Eagerly Unleashing New Intimidation. Supremely Stupid. Even Now.

A Neverending Drama.
