Iain
At the end of the day if this enquiry fails to answer the questions still lingering from the last farce then the new Government will have failed the people.
I really hope Lord Campbell will judge the case on the evidence, and the evidence we have seen over the years clearly shows some shortcomings within SCRO when workers were allowed to sign other workers Initials.
My only fear now is quite plain and simply this:
If the last Enquiry used Peter Swann's evidence to clear the SCRO workers ( he described a left thumb print while they described a right thumb print) Can this be justified ?
Quite clearly this is a huge discrepency "Massive" even, what will this enquiry make of this evidence and will any of SCRO be charged now Swann's evidence is tainted in this manner.
Why the last Enquiry ever allowed Swann's evidence considering he has been retired for 21 years is beyond me.
Apparently Mr Swann does not have any accredited IAI certificates and has to my knowledge never sat any fingerprint exams, Yet he was allowed to give expert evidence to the last enquiry.
Best wishes to both You and Shirley

Dear Iain and Shirley!
We are so happy for you that you have been given a date for your inquiry. All of us in the Borjesson family, and the Jansson family, will pray for you Iain and Shirley and think of you both during this very important inquiry Monday 20 October. We truly hope that the Truth will come out and that Justice will be seen and done! We wish you all the best!
Thank God that You Iain had the knowledge and the experience that you possessed when this terrible happened to your beautiful daughter, the thought of what could have happened otherwise is unbearable, there seems to be weak spots in the Scottish Justice system and so many persons are innocently put to jail. All cases must be judged on the evidence and no evidence should be hidden or be covered-up, no stone should be left unturned. The evidence must be based on Facts expertise, the latest updated technique and not based on assumptions or old technique and certainly not by the media created evidence that very often paints a picture with the wrong
Colour.
It is a crime on its own that those who is working to protect the people from Injustice, in a lot of cases, have done nothing or very little to obtain Justice. We must continue to make Injustice visible so that they must admit where they have done wrong, learn and take actions to improve and modernise the Justice system. And of course after admitting they did wrong, and apologise they must still learn take actions and take a stand against injustice.
We know only a little from reading about what is going to happen but we understand that this is so very important for you, and we will think of you and include you all in our prayers and pray that something very good comes out of this for Shirley, You Iain, and the entire Mckie family and we will also pray that the inquiry hopefully will Put so much pressure on the Scottish Justice system so that something even better transpires from this as a result of that the Politicians must take a stand and act!
Best wishes to you and Shirley.

Dear Guje and Angel,
Sincere thanks for your good wishes and for those of the many other people who have contacted us as the Inquiry approaches.
Like yourselves I hope its conclusions have a wide application to our justice system and benefit those who have suffered injustice.
Best wishes,
Iain
In relation to other matters.
It appears my correspondence with Colin McKerracher, Chief Constable of Grampian Police, about past comments he has made, has caused some interest among the ex SCRO experts.
Below are the links to my original letter and his reply. I have already responded to him and will update readers once he has received my latest letter.

The first hearing of the Judicial Inquiry will take place on Monday 20 October in Glasgow. If the evidence our enquiry team has amassed is anything to go by some startling revelations are to be expected over the next few months.
It is my personal hope that a spirit of truth and reconciliation imbues this Inquiry rather than hate and revenge. It seems important that witnesses are encouraged and allowed to speak the truth confident that while they might be called to account for previous lies and illegitimate actions their voluntary revelation of the truth will be taken into account in deciding what action, if any, is to be taken against them.
I have absolutely no doubt that if this Inquiry is held in such a spirit the truth will finally be revealed. I also hope its recommendations will help everyone caught up in the trauma of the past 11 years to put the hurt behind them. The memory of Marion Ross demands no less.

Hi Iain.
I am looking forward to the Fingerprint Inquiry and hope that nothing is kept back all must be told Marion Ross and your family deserve that the truth is finally told and those responsible held to account.
Would some of these questions be raised at the enquiry.
Did Strathclyde police have a main suspect or suspects ? If so who were they and how were they eliminated from there inquiries.
Will Strathclyde police reopen the murder investigation to find out who killed Marion Ross ? Has any new information come forward on the case.
How far up in U Division did the order come to charge Shirley with perjury.? And will names be named and will they be asked to explain themselves.
Was the fingerprint the only evidence that U Division used against Shirley and was it vital that print evidence was needed to get a conviction against Asbury ? Or was it only part of the evidence they had against Asbury.
I visited Brendan yesterday with John Bynorth he would like to thank all that have sent him cards.
