Police Chief Blocks Probe Into Bungled Investigation
Feb 24 2008 By Marion Scott

A POLICE chief forced to apologise over a bungled death probe is refusing to ask another force to reopen the case.

The police complaints watchdog ordered Northern Constabulary Chief Constable Ian Latimer to say sorry in person to the parents of Kevin McLeod, 24, who drowned in Wick harbour 11 years ago.

Kevin suffered massive internal injuries and his family believe he was viciously beaten then dumped in the water.

But Latimer has refused calls to let another force investigate the murder claim.

In a letter to the family last week he wrote: "I see no opportunity or reasoning to support a more wide-ranging review."

But Kevin's uncle Allan McLeod said yesterday: "We are absolutely outraged at the arrogance of this man.

"If he has nothing to hide he'd welcome an outside force investigating the case. We won't rest until we get justice for Kevin

Hi Allan

I was just reading that story in the Sunday Mail at  :
http://www.sundaymail.co.uk/news/...led-investigation-78057-20329420/

About time the Justice Secretary intervened in this case and sees justice done rather than denied.

Everyone must be wondering just whose interests are being served here by not having the full & proper inquiry into Kevin's death which should have happened in the first place - and just why the interests of some who made bad decisions are being prioritised over a life.

Everyone must be wondering just whose interests are being served here by not having the full & proper inquiry … and just why the interests of some who made bad decisions are being prioritised over a life.

The interests of Chief Constable Ian Latimer and his incompetent, negligent and corrupt Northern Constabulary are being served and protected by not having the full and proper inquiry … prioritised and protected by Messrs Salmond and MacAskill as usual … over a young man’s life and a family’s heartache and 11-year fight for the truth and justice.

Of course there should be a full and proper inquiry into Kevin’s murder and Salmond and / or MacAskill should intervene in this appalling injustice immediately … as they should with all these well-known cases repeatedly highlighted on this forum over the past 10 months …

Annie Borjesson (RIP), Karen Dewar (RIP), Craig Gowans (RIP), Annie Davies (RIP), Kevin McLeod (RIP), Mr X abuse and neglect scandal / cover up (which MacAskill and Salmond are burying at SNP HQ, and have done for years now), Peter Cherbi, William Beck, Brendan Dixon (Free the Killie 2), Al-Megrahi / Lockerbie, Shirley McKie, Kerelaw (child abuse and neglect scandal), SCCRC and Crown Office dubious decisions / lack of disclosure and devious practices...... the list is endless where fine actions have been glaringly lacking.

But it would appear that rather than living up to his portfolio title of Cabinet Secretary FOR JUSTICE, we have a Cabinet Secretary FOR INJUSTICE in Scotland who, by his inaction and indifference displayed since coming to power (corrupts) nearly 10 months ago, has proved, beyond any doubt now, that he is indeed a crooked and corrupt INjustice Secretary who protects his friends in high places within a corrupt, rotten and incestuous Scottish legal establishment … though, through the voluminous case files he and Salmond continue to withhold, conceal and bury at SNP HQ, I have known that FACT for many years.

As [I said in a previous posting] someone put it to me last year re MacAskill and Salmond :

Thanks also for the message on the end detailing another glorious moment in our wonderful leaders' long list of failures and self absorbed moments of utter contempt for real people. You do wonder how they sleep at night knowing they could make people's lives better or help ease their suffering but not bothering to actually do it.

Long list of failures and self absorbed moments of utter contempt for real people sums these two “great, good and honest” men up very well indeed.

And the Scottish press and media (Scotland’s “brave, bold and courageous journalists” … ahem, ahem) continue to let them both off the hook and do NOTHING to properly challenge them over these well-known injustices and many more...

Cowards one and all.
