Smith was also unaware of any link but was later told: "You didn't know it - but you just drove the remains of the Arlene Fraser car through to the west."

I wonder who told Smith the above.

If I remember right it was Dick who allegedly bought the car so if it ever re-appears it could only implicate him.

Was Dick not also caught telling lies about taking the car to the scrappy in the Frontline Scotland program.

Was Dick not the one who was seen outside the house of Arlene before she disappeared.

Seems to me more evidence against Dick who it has been suggested fancied Arlene and could have motive if she rejected his advances.

I think Nat Fraser has a great case for the Privy Council and have every confidence if current law is adhered to then he will win his appeal.

Fraser was refused leave to appeal to the Privy council.

So he would have to apply to the Echr to advance any approach to the council.

Quote from link.

She recorded that Fraser's only concern seemed to be that Hector Dick (whom he referred to as "Hecky") might crack and say something about the murder to the police.

Fraser's concern about his friend's reliability eventually proved to be justified. The police, armed with evidence of his complicity in the disposal of the body which Jessica Rees's lip-reading skill had provided, the police charged Hector Dick with conspiracy to murder Arlene, and conspiracy to pervert the course of justice.

One of the many discussions we have had about this case was the Discredited Lip Reader.

Obviously not everyone reads the news so for those that missed the facts about this case here is a reminder.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/programmes/newsnight/4626573.stm

Quote:
Credibility challenged

But last year, her credibility was challenged in a case at Snaresbrook Crown Court. A defence barrister Edward Henry accused her of misleading the court in her CV, which, he argued, suggested she had a degree from Balliol College, Oxford.

Ms Rees - who was the first completely deaf student to win a place at Oxford - readily conceded that she had not completed her degree. She said her CV was meant to show only that she had finished the first two years of the course.

The next day the Crown Prosecution Service dropped her as an expert witness in the Snaresbrook case. Mr Henry's client was later acquitted.

This reminds me a bit of Gene Morrison who the Crown also used as an expert, who turned out to be anything but.

I was told her evidence was only used to gain a charge and that her evidence was never going to be used in court anyway.

She can be searched in Google for anyone interested in more information on her credibility.

David

I am absolutely horrified that this unsubstantiated speculation makes it to the papers never mind the front page.

They are doing the same as they have done with Luke Mitchell for years, Trial By Press it is called.

No surprise it comes when he is trying to go to Privy Council, who anyone can write to even if the court refuses permission.

I have heard though, his defence have prepared an application to be sent on his behalf and I wish him well.
