I have never been comfortable with the evidence this young boy was convicted on.

Jodi killer begins appeal

FRESH evidence has emerged that could be used by the teenage killer of schoolgirl Jodi Jones in a bid to overturn his murder conviction, defence lawyers said today.
Luke Mitchell, 19, has already been granted the right to challenge his murder conviction.

That decision concerned claims that publicity surrounding the case interfered with his right to a fair trial.

But at a procedural hearing in Edinburgh today, Mitchell's lawyers said they planned to bring forward new information in an attempt to secure grounds for the appeal.

Jane Farquarson QC said: "This is additional information that has come by way of the Crown."
