Just thought you might like to hear … I am a fingerprint expert of 22 years and recently resigned from a police service to take on a new job in the development world. I’m currently building the fingerprint capacity of several developing countries in the South Pacific. During a recent fingerprint comparison test one of the candidates failed to understand the significance of error. I’m now using the Shirley McKie case to emphasise the significance of attention to detail and personal integrity. And the potential for mis-justice caused by error.

So you agree that this fingerprint in Shirley's case was not hers? Do you also agree that what she and her family have had to endure to prove her Innocence is a disgrace to any Judicial System?
If more people like yourself stood up and voiced Their opinions (You being the expert) Maybe these police force's that continually Set People Up, would think twice about doing so in future.
I take my hat off to you for taking time to comment on this case and commend your plight and entrust you to teach not only Finger Print Identification but Justice.
Thank you for your comment

Thanks for that 'Supporter' and to you 'Big Wullie' for adding so much to these debates.

The trauma of the past ten years has been caused by the failure of SCRO experts to admit their errors - two in the one case.

Those who follow the excellent American fingerprint site www.clpex.com (detail Chat Board) will be aware of the fascinating debate under the heading ‘McKie’s facing court appearance?’.

It is now clear as further investigation takes place that more evidence is being revealed of possible criminality at the SCRO in 1997.

These matters make it even more imperative that the promised judicial enquiry is forthcoming

As ‘The Price of Innocence’ revealed the further we look into the evidence given by certain SCRO experts at David Asbury’s and Shirley’s trial and subsequently to the Justice 1 Enquiry the clearer it becomes that criminality was involved.

I have always felt that not all of the experts were aware of the possibility of criminal activity by some of their colleagues and that incompetence or psychological/emotional issues like those identified by Itiel Dror and David Charlton were sometimes at play.

I would underline to SCRO experts past and present that these matters are not going away and that I will be pressing for action at the very highest level. It would be wise for those with information on criminality to come forward voluntarily before it is too late and they are forced to give evidence at an enquiry or to the police

NB. This posting has been removed as it is the moderator's view that it does not relate to this subject and a similar posting has already been made under 'Are SCCRC independent enough.....'

Continually.....????????????

Tell me why the police would "set people up"? Failing to correct an error due to covering up etc all the other allegations you have made against the legal system.....that is completely different from setting someone up! Are you suggesting Shirley McKie was "set up" or that the case against her resulted from people not willing to correct their errors? Bearing in mind if she was set up in the first place then there would need to be a reason for doing so.....?
