I have heard that Strathclyde Police produced an edited video tape (an extract from a previously viewed longer tape produced in Court) as evidence for a case that was used to undermine a Crown Witness. ie much was apparently made of a missing segment whereby the Defence went to great pains to suggest that a 16yr old boy (Witness for the Crown) was mistaken as what he, the witness, claimed in evidence could NOT be bourne out by the tape. - of course not if the evidence was tampered with and a segment removed or merely edited out.

Think of the enormity of this allegation if true, that Police misled a Court thereby perverting the course of justice, provided the means to undermine a crown witness, stuffed a fiscal - who they are meant to be working for, and to what end?

Perhaps the answer is somewhere in:- to assist in the failed prosecution of a defendant who happened to be a serving police officer.

Expect the fiscal who is looking at this to prosecute - if true, expect transparency and justice, I won't hold my breath. If any fiscal prosecutes any cop for perverting the course of justice you may as well throw away the keys to Barlinnie, as you will be emptying it on appeals. And THAT is always the real reason that any alleged corrupt practice amongst police or fiscals is never brought to Court. Justice must always be SEEN to be above approach, a thin visual veneer over a corrupt system, better that the public never find out, isn't it?

I see that the new poster has never replied!

Would be interested in his/her further comments if there are any.  Otherwise why come here?
