I don't think that the title of this post truly reflects the content of Ms Wood's letter to you.
She is advising you that you should report the matter to the police in align with the protocol for the investigation (and any subsequent prosecution) of crime in Scotland.
The Lord Advocate nor her secretariat, her Deputes, Procurators Fiscal (or their Deputes) do not personally carry out investigation of crime - they prosecute it. The role of the LA, PF and the remit of COPFS is to direct and oversee police ( and other reporting agencies ) investigation of crime. Deaths is different.
Hope helpful. _________________ Mr Fiscal |

The Lord Advocate and her merry men and women may not investigate crimes but they can certainly prevent the police from doing so and in particular, crimes involving the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service itself.
Some system, a joke and a farce is what comes to mind! |
